  • The company’s dealerships were already informed of the recall.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled over 12,000 models of its famous cars, like the CLS, E-Class, and AMG GT 4-Door, in the US. The company issued a voluntary recall due to a possible fire risk caused by a poor 48-volt ground connection. This issue was first raised in 2022, when the manufacturer got field reports from its buyers, who had reportedly experienced many warning messages.

The company conducted research that revealed that these warnings might be the result of an incorrectly fixed 48-volt battery ground connection. Although the company has been informed of three field reports from September and December 2022, there is no mention of any injuries, fatalities, or property damage linked to this issue.

The recall notice warns vehicle owners that not securing a ground cable properly might lead to a rise in electrical resistance and cause the connection to heat up, which could start a fire. If a vehicle experiences a 48-volt system error because of this issue, warning signals linked to the 48-volt power supply will start appearing in the instrument cluster equipped with the vehicle.

The company’s dealerships were already informed of the recall. Mercedes-Benz will be alerting its customers before April 9, 2024. To fix this issue, Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect the bolt torque of the ground connection and fix it if required. The manufacturer has advised vehicle owners to visit their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealerships to get more information regarding this issue.

The auto giant has apologized for any disruption that this recall may have caused and expressed its dedication to guaranteeing the safety of its buyers. The company is working on taking quick action and resolving this matter to avoid any possible safety risks.

According to reports, around 12,191 vehicles are likely to come under this recall. The recalled vehicles include the 2021-2023 AMG E53, 2021-2023 E450 All-Terrain, 2021-2023 E 450, 2021-2023 CLS 450, 2021-2023 AMG GT 43, 2021 AMG CLS 53, and 2021-2023 AMG GT 53 vehicles that were constructed between October 21, 2021, and April 4, 2023.
